How Iris Pilot works

Does Iris Pilot track a moving person or object?

No. One tap requests one autofocus point when the camera and electronic lens are ready, and selects a fixed exposure-meter area. It does not provide moving tracking or continuous autofocus.

What does AUTO BEST do?

AUTO BEST meters the mean preview brightness inside the fixed area you selected. After stable readings, it makes bounded, discrete Iris or Shutter adjustments. It does not guarantee perfect exposure or analyze RAW clipping.

How does Combined mode work?

When adding exposure, Combined uses Iris first and moves to Shutter only after Iris reaches the needed limit. When light rises, it restores confirmed Shutter steps from the current automatic run before closing Iris.

Why can I see a brightness change?

Iris and Shutter are discrete camera settings. Each confirmed step can produce a visible change. Iris Pilot does not claim a seamless ramp.

Can I use automatic exposure while recording?

Recording start stops the previous run. You can deliberately press Start during that take after confirming a warning that steps may be visible. That authorization applies only to the current take; a new recording requires a new confirmation.

Which cameras are compatible?

Iris Pilot is designed for supported RED DSMC3 configurations, including compatible KOMODO and V-RAPTOR configurations. Exact compatibility depends on camera model, firmware, electronic lens, phone, and network. It is not a universal RED compatibility claim.

Does the app upload camera footage?

No. The release has no Iris Pilot account, advertising, analytics, or cloud frame upload. Preview frames and telemetry are processed between the phone and the selected camera on the local network.

Does the offline demo change a camera?

No. The demo uses packaged media and simulated control state. It does not connect to or change a camera.

What should I send when asking for support?

Include the phone model, RED camera model, firmware, electronic lens, selected adjustment mode, and what happened. Do not send camera passwords, private network credentials, or private footage.
