Quick setup
- Put the phone and supported RED camera on the same Wi-Fi network, or join the camera’s Ad-Hoc network from the phone.
- Open Iris Pilot and choose Find cameras. If needed, choose Use a camera IP instead and enter the camera’s local IPv4 address.
- Open the live preview and tap the area that matters. The tap selects a fixed exposure area and requests one focus point when the camera and electronic lens are ready.
- Choose Iris, Shutter, Combined, or Smart, then press Start. Press Stop whenever automatic control should end.
- When recording begins, the previous automatic run stops. To adjust during that take, press Start during recording and confirm the visible-step warning.
If the preview does not open
- Confirm the camera preview is available and the phone remains on the same local network.
- Return to Connect and reconnect to the camera.
- If another camera-control app used the preview, fully close that app and try Iris Pilot again.
- Keep Iris Pilot in the foreground while using live preview and control.
Focus and exposure expectations
- A tap requests one focus point; it does not follow a moving subject.
- Metering stays on the fixed area until you tap a new area.
- Combined adds exposure with Iris first and moves to Shutter only when Iris reaches the needed limit. When light rises, it restores confirmed Shutter steps from the current run before closing Iris.
- Iris and Shutter are discrete settings, so each change can produce a visible brightness step.
- Exact behavior depends on the RED camera, firmware, electronic lens, phone, and network configuration.
